Rosalind Anketell is a queer Irish/Australian singer-songwriter and comedian, now based in Amsterdam. Rosalind writes emotive and cinematic folk/pop music, receiving praise for her perceptive lyrics, expressive voice, and “talent for blending personal experiences with universal themes” (Amplify the Noise)
This year Rosalind released two pop singles; Lily and begin. Lily displays “soothing vocals, emotional storytelling, and high-quality production” (Clunk Magazine). Begin is a “sulphurous and vivid late-night anthem” (Hot Press) which explores “the complexities of human connection through… poignant and passionate songwriting” (Amplify the Noise).
In 2020, Rosalind won an American Express Music Backers Studio Week grant, allowing her to record with renowned producer Adam Rhodes at the legendary Sing Sing Studios in Melbourne. The result was Nowhere to Fall, released in May 2024.
Previous releases include; Really You’re a Nice Kid (2020) a “pop-rock anthem… that’ll stay in your head for days” (Beat Magazine), and her widely praised debut EP Rosalind (2019) which established her as a “talented, emotionally-aware and captivating storyteller” (Forte Magazine). In 2019, Rosalind’s original rock cabaret, A Dreamer’s Guide to Reality, received 4/5 stars from Beat Magazine and showcased Rosalind’s “stunning songwriting”.
Rosalind draws inspiration from an eclectic mix of genres including; Portuguese fado and American folk music, as well as musicians including; AURORA, Maggie Rogers, Lorde and Hozier.
Rosalind is also the co-host and executive producer of the award-winning podcast Bad Behavior.
